The Masters by Negotiated Study (MaNS) is an MA or an MSc. degree course run by the University of Staffordshire UK. More details can be found here:-

It is one year full-time or two years part-time. It is unusual in that you have the freedom to design what you study and how you're assessed (within reason), and you are required to write a Learning Contract which is then confirmed by your tutor and an external examiner but which can be modified over the period of the programme.
Here's an abridged description from the website:-

"A unique Masters programme in which YOU decide the focus and subject of your postgraduate studies in the diverse area of Arts and Creative Technologies.
It is impossible to describe this course, because it is different for every single student. You are the person who decides what you want to do (as long as it’s at a postgraduate level of study).

Armed with your proposal we will find you a subject-specific mentor, who will help you put together a Learning Contract, which is your own bespoke course design, which will allow you to complete your project. You can use your own experience and interests to explore a subject through work-experience. You can also use the resources of the faculty –whether it be teaching and research expertise or workshop facilities – to help you. You even pick your own title for the course."

I started this course in September 2015 after completing the first year of an undergraduate degree at the University of Staffordshire in 'Stop Motion Animation and Puppetry' and being awarded a Certificate of Higher Education. I wanted to specialise in the parts of animation I find most interesting (i.e. fabrication) and to have more control over the subjects and method of studying. I already have a MSc. in Biological Computation (lots of Statistics) so I've studied at Post Graduate level before which has proved useful.

My programme is entitled:-

'MA in Stop Motion Animation - Costumes, Model and Puppet Fabrication'.
